For those moments when you’re thinking, “I need new business –- and quick!”

How to Generate Publicity for Your Summer Events 6 July 2007

Now that summer is (supposedly) here, many of you might be turning your hand to sponsoring or hosting an event.

One of the best ways to create awareness and generate publicity to boot is to invite a journalist to participate in something that will result in a pre-event story.

For example, let’s say you’re holding a hot-air balloon fundraising event. Try inviting one of your target media’s reporters to take a ride in the hot-air balloon one or two weeks before your event. This way, you will catch the reporter’s attention with an exclusive invitation and give her plenty of time to write about it for newspaper.

Don’t forget to book a good photographer, too. A reporter might bring her own, but best to have two too many than no photography at all!

Want to use this in your ezine, blog or website? No problem! Just let me know. I’ll send you a short resource box/bio to include at the end of the article.
